It is always daunting organising any event, you never quite know whether it will be well attended or how people will react. Thanks to efforts of the entire Human Anatomy Unit, I can honestly say the exhibition was a success and warmly received. We had 123 visitors (between 10am – 4pm), up from 80 last year. We also noticed a significant increase in online traffic. In particular, there was an increased attendance from staff members, from a wide range of departments as diverse as chemical engineering and drama.
I’d like to give a special thanks to our artists and the intercalated BSc students, their pieces of work made the exhibition, Patrick Dandy for digitising our artworks and the Culture & Heritage department for their patience with me. I would also like to give a special thanks to our sponsors Anatomage and Thieme, in particular Vanessa from Anatomage who spent the entire day showing our visitors the great new features available on the Anatomage tables. Last but certainly not least, I’d like to express my gratitude to our judges, Helen Cobby, Assistant Curator at The Barber, Mr Demetrius Evriviades, Plastic surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and Professor Janice Marshall, Head of Anatomy.
I’ll leave you with results of the art competition, well done to everyone. Results of the art & anatomy exhibition:
