The Dissection Room is an online anatomy gallery and blog. The gallery showcases the creative talents of anatomy students, from the Institute of Clinical Sciences University of Birmingham. Each year students are asked to submit artworks based on their interpretation of a particular theme. As well as being displayed online, the artworks are also shown at the University’s annual Art & Science festival.
The blog provides an informal forum for students to ask questions about anatomy, pick up tips on studying anatomy, read posts on anatomy topics that often cause confusion and enjoy articles about anatomy in the context of the arts. The team of authors include myself and fellow anatomists, clinicians and artists; sharing our knowledge and experience about studying and applying anatomy.
The aims of this project are to promote engagement with students and to inspire the next generation of anatomists, clinicians and anatomy illustrators.
